The Dreaded Woman

by Sharman J. Monroeanonymous-376540_1280

I’m a woman and the words “Proverbs 31 woman” make me cringe. Every Mother’s Day when the male pastors dust off their sermons about the Proverbs 31 woman, I check out. I wonder if they really understand what they are talking about. I roll my eyes at the thought of getting up everyday while it’s still dark outside and everyone is still sleeping to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for my household (Prov. 31:15). The thought of planting and maintaining a garden to feed my family on top of making everyone’s clothes makes my head spin. (Prov. 31:16-22). I suck my teeth at the thought of my husband sitting around doing nothing with his buddies who slyly slap him on the back for having a woman who does all the work (Prov. 31:28). This is 2015! I have a 9 to 5 outside of the house! And what about the single woman who doesn’t have children or a husband? I don’t see any mention of her. I think the Proverbs 31 standard is impossible to reach. I definitely don’t feel I reach it; I’m not even close. But I know God and I know He doesn’t direct us to do anything that we are unable to do. So, recently as I forced myself to read Proverbs 31 (I was doing a Proverbs 31-Day challenge), I asked God to help me. I asked for a revelation because something was wrong. This is what God revealed me.

A Proverbs 31 woman is a woman Continue reading

How AWESOME is our God!

by Sharman J. Monroe

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve heard gospels songs playing in my head during the night and before I wake in the morning. To backtrack a bit, when I open my eyes in the morning, I usually have thoughts about what I didn’t do or finish or all the mistakes I made the day before.  But lately, I’ve heard gospel songs before I open my eyes.  This morning it was “Break Every Chain”.  I stopped and thought, “How AWESOME is our God! He took His time to jump in front of Satan and do a pre-emptive strike for me against Satan’s attempt to garbage in my head when I woke up!”

Paul clued us in on God taking pre-emptive actions on our behalf.  Continue reading

Praise the Lord and welcome to AWIC’s message of prayer.  For this is your prelude to your date with destiny. For prayer is your preparation for all things.  So the purpose of this message is to teach you to a Prayer Warrior.  The Lord told me to break it down using the word PURPOSE.

 PRAYER WARRIORS

P – PRAYER WARRIOR You must seek God for guidance for healing and restoration for you can do nothing unless the Lord so orders.  How can you do that without prayer? For prayer is your communication with God.  Prayer is your intimacy with God. Prayer gets answers from God.  Prayer moves the hand of God and invites Him in to take action.  Prayer puts you in the very presence of God.  For the Word says to pray always with all kinds of prayers and supplications. WE NEED TO BE PRAYER WARRIORS!

U- USED OF GOD – God desires to use you as a vessel. Continue reading

Prayer – It’s the Real Thing!

by Brenda Diggs

Prayer is a powerful, under-utilized weapon in the believer’s arsenal that can change the believer, give peace in the midst of turmoil, alter the course of nations, and win souls for Christ.

Prayer is bringing the ‘I AM’ into everyday situations; it is learning God, rather than learning about God.

Prayer is a privilege granted by a merciful God who longs to be intimately involved with His Creation.

Prayer is my garden of Eden when I can take a spiritual walk with the Creator. God speaks to me in a quiet voice that causes me to stop and pay attention. Sometimes I have to strain to hear Him because of the noise and distractions that would drown out His voice if I let them.

Through prayer, I am developing Continue reading
