Stop Trippin’!

by Elder Sarah Branch

Have you ever said to yourself or anyone ever said to you, “Stop trippin’.”

“Stop trippin’?” you say with a blank look on your face.

Yes, stop trippin’!

It’s when you seemed to have bumped your head and forgotten who God really is, a problem arises in your life and you say that you are okay. You let people think that you are fine, but underneath all of that you are ready to fall apart. The enemy really begins to come at you with all kinds of stuff: “See, I told you that you were not good enough” or “I told you that you were going to mess up again” or l told you that God would not allow this to happen.”

It’s happened too many times that we allow the enemy to creep in and steal our joy, peace, and happiness. We allow him to say what he will say and roll right on off the scene, leaving us sitting there looking like a deer in headlights. What happened to us fighting? To just come and take something, especially when it wasn’t given to him or by him.

When those times try to creep up on you, you have to take out the resume of your life and remember all that God has already brought you through. Maybe you don’t get it, so let me come down your street. He brought me through the accident. He brought me through the abuse. He brought me through homelessness. He brought me through bankruptcy. He brought me through a divorce. He brought me through unemployment. He brought me through the surgery. Do I need to continue?

All that God has already done should be enough for us to know that He will bring us through this, too. Sometimes, God has to raise our level of faith. Sometimes, God has to see that no matter what occurs we are still going to praise Him. How are we going to respond in this situation?

That’s why one songwriter said, “Lord you’ve been so faithful.” That which you have endured only adds to your resume and your testimony chest of how God brought you through. So stop trippin’, brush the dust off and keep it moving. God got you!

Lamentations 3:22-24 (MSG): God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great your faithfulness! I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over). He’s all I’ve got left.

PRAYER

Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to stop trippin’. There are times that I go right into panic mode when I should be resting in the fact that You are God and have been with me through everything I have faced. Teach me to relax and rest in You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
